True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

A friend and I just started a new Outlander discussion and reading group! It's called Pure Outlander - ALL things Outlander ALL the time! All the books and the TV series too are up for discussion in every way. Come join us and let's have some fun with OUTLANDER!!!

***This is a safe and NO FLAMING GROUP - NO ugly or condescending comments because someone doesn't see the books or series or actors or actresses the way you do will be tolerated! This will be strictly enforced. We want to see everyone be able to discuss their favorite books and show without being put down or told to shut up or stop whining if they don't like every single thing or see things the way others do! This goes on far to much on other groups so we decided to start our own where we could stop that childish mess and actually have FUN! SO do please come over and join in!***

Outlander just officially broke my heart

I just finished watching this week's episode of Outlander "Faith" and Oh my stars people get the tissues ready! I kid you not this episode truly broke my heart. I cried like a baby... and I do mean I bawled. That hasn't happened because of a TV show or series (I don't think, at least not to my memory) that much or that long after the show went off ever, in my nearly 40 years.

Caitriona Balfe is an absolutely amazing actress and then some! If you don't believe me watch that episode and you will have no doubt of it I assure you!!!

If she does not win some kind of award for that episode alone there is absolutely no justice in this world. WHEW! Sam did an outstanding job too but it was Caitriona that broke my heart. You will know what I mean when you see it. She was simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. And what makes this even more astonishing is I knew exactly what was going to happen I have read Dragonfly in Amber numerous times over the years I don't even know how many times but a lot all right...I thought I was ready, and that it wouldn't bother me that much. I didn't think I would do more than sniffle a bit. Boy how very wrong I was. I must go I need another tissue now.

News from the end of the earth...and Merry Christmas

Yes it's news from the end of the earth... as I dropped off the end of it yet again it seems huh. *cringe*

I know you can beat me with wet spaghetti I am guilty of being a bad blogger yet again!  But in my defense for not updating the blog for so long it is almost Christmas and thank the Good Lord I was actually swamped with work for the last month too. Which means it has been very hectic here and when I got done with work I just vegged out and didn't feel like doing much reviewing etc. But all the extra work coming in turned out extra good as I didn't have to charge one single present this year!!! I have NEVER been able to do since I got married 17 years ago until this year. I would at least have to charge several if not most of them and then pay the credit off once we got our taxes back. That's how it has been for us here as we truly do live week to week and check to check at my house. But thanks be to God not this year! I was so busy and got so much work that I didn't have to charge a single present AND I also got the bills paid too for which I was beyond grateful for! God is good people!!!

I also have some exciting news...well it's exciting to me and I hope it will be for others too someday at least. I want to share this partly because one - I am excited about it, and two - because if I make it known to others publicly I will feel more obligated to stick to it because of that very fact! I started writing a book today! The tentative working title for the moment (it might change in fact probably will lol) is Broken Vines. It's a historical romance set during the last days of the Civil War and shortly thereafter in East Tennessee.

I tried my hand at writing several years ago (actually I'm shocked to realize this but it was 7 or 8 years back or more now) on a couple of stories, but I never finished any of them. For one reason or another real life always seemed to be interfering and I finally just lost my will and enthusiasm to keep going on them. I had just about made up my mind that I wouldn't try writing anymore and put that dream away for good... when late last month this story popped into my head seemingly out of the blue. What floored me was that it was so vivid and detailed that really stopped in my tracks and I said well maybe I do need to give this one a shot! When I say detailed I mean the entire story line arc and main characters - right down to the names and what they looked like - were immediately there. Almost like a little movie in my mind. And it is a story that I would definitely want to read as a reader myself it someone else wrote something like this, so I think I at least need to give it my best try to make this one come to life on paper as it did in my head.

So there it is I am God willing taking the first steps (again and hopefully with much more success this time) to being an author. I do want to give a big thank you and shout out to Sue-Ellen Welfonder for listening to my idea and for her very kind encouragement and insight. God bless you dear you truly helped me make up my mind to give it one more try.

Here is a sneak peak at what the two main characters look like (in my head anyway hehehe) meet Sgt. David Russell C.S.A and Rebecca Johnston...

So that's my news and an update on where I have been for the last half month. I hope you all are about ready for Santa it's almost here! A Very Merry Christmas to you and yours and God Bless us every one!

Movie Review: Love's Everlasting Courage

Starring: Wes Brown, Julie Mond, Cheryl Ladd, Bruce Boxleitner

Directed by: Bradford May

BLURB: Wes Brown (We Are Marshall, True Blood) joins Cheryl Ladd (Charlie's Angels, Las Vegas) and Bruce Boxleitner (Tron, Heroes) in this heartwarming story adapted from the bestselling "Love Comes Softly" series by Janette Oke. When the wife of a struggling homesteader on the western frontier unexpectedly dies, the man searches for the strength and courage to raise his young daughter - and finds it, with the help of his parents.

REVIEW: This is the second of the two prequels in the Love Comes Softly series. Clark and Ellen are married now and have a young daughter Missy when we catch back up with them in this one. Though very happy together there is a major drought going on and it's causing a lot of problems for the young family. The bank is breathing heavily down their necks for repayment of a loan and with the drought Clark isn't able to make the payment on time. To help out, but much to the dislike of Clark, Ellen takes a position as a seamstress in town to help make ends meet. While Clark continues to try to find water by digging a new well on their property.

But even worse times come when Ellen suddenly comes down with scarlet fever. Clark is utterly devastated when she dies from the illness a short time later and tries to find the strength to carry on for their daughter Missy. With the help of his parents can Clark find the faith and strength he needs to make it past this tragedy?

Although this one is sad it wasn't a surprise that Ellen would die as we know that Clark is a widower when he meets Marty in Love Comes Softly. I hated to see Ellen die but it was nice to be able to see more of their story and how their circumstances got to be where they were when we first met them again in the first movie. A great and well acted edition to the series and a must see for those that love the series like me. :)

Two big thumbs up for this one as well...just be sure to have the tissues ready when you do watch this one. You will need them.

The movie is not officially rated but if it was it would be G to PG at the most it is definitely family friendly!

Totally clean the whole family can enjoy this one together!
