True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Crawling back from the dead...and some exciting news for me!

Well see what happens when I say I am going to do better about posting? And then what happens? WHAMO my entire family and I come down with the freaking flu! First my husband got it (he caught it at work) then I started to get it and my son quickly came down with it right after me. SO we were punny for weeks and I was even still dragging some through Christmas. I feel like I'm just now crawling my way back out into the light from being dead for weaks. SO *KNOCK ON WOOD* starting now I pray I will be able to get back to posting more again like normal without any more trouble or interruptions God willing!

One cool thing did happen I decided to check on Ancestry.com again since I haven't tried to trace any on my family trees in literally years!!! Because everytime I tried before I kept hitting big ol solid brick walls where I could find absolutely nothing on pretty much every line I had. SO I gave up and haven't tried anything with my family trees since probably around 2008 or so. But since Ancestry had a free 14 day trial I thought I would look and see if anyone else had had any luck in the last 6 years or so and lo and behold they had been very busy indeed!!! There was so much new information and the software to trace and link lines was so much better than it was the last time that I tried it that I was able to get farther on every line I have than I ever have before. I was so excited! Yes I'm a nerd but it was cool I am a huge history buff and yes kind of my family's historian it seems and I was over the moon that I was able to find so many new links and branches. I even was finally able to trace one of the lines from my Dad's mother's side of the family all the way back to the early 1400's in England so far and get this... I found that we actually have knighted noble blood on that side! NO JOKE I checked it and rechecked it and there it was it was correct...I actually have some honest to goodness knights and ladies blood coursing through my little southern veins. LOL! Now that is pretty cool you have to admit even though they are Sassenachs. ;)

Check out these coats of arms that I have found both from the Hankins and the Hungerford lines that married each other during the late 1400 and early 1500's....

I admit it I have been nerding all over the place for the last few hours since I found this and just had to share! I can't wait to see if it goes back any further and what I might find next!!!

So with that news I'm going to shut up and run back to Ancestry and see how far back I can get that line to go. Until tomorrow when I will be back with a review or two I promise! I wish you all a very good day!

My Outlander Fantasy Cast

Just a bit of a fun post. I always find it interesting to hear or see how people think the main characters in their favorite books look to them when they read. So I decided to share my fantasy Outlander cast with you all. Now below is how I always pictured the characters in Outlander in my head while reading the books... BEFORE the Starz series started. Yes now I will readily admit I see Sam Heughan as Jamie and Caitrionia Balfe as my Claire now, but before that these were my picks (and still are for them as the older versions) and how I saw them. But the rest so far I still see how I did in my head. What do you think? Please do share your ideas with me I love chatting about this kind of thing!

Gerard Butler as Jamie Fraser

Catherine McCormack as Claire Randall Fraser

Karen Gillian as Brianna Randall Fraser
(so so so wish they would get her for Bree on the Starz series)

James Marsden as Roger Mackenzie

Brian Bloom as Fergus

Rachel Weisz as Jenny Fraser Murray

Jason Issacs as Frank Randall and Black Jack Randall

Ralph Fiennes as Ian Murray

Liam Neeson as Dougal Mackenzie

These were my main stars of Outlander as I saw them in my head while reading... again before the series on Starz lol. THOUGH I know many are now to old now to play those roles even if they could afford them (which I'm sure they couldn't on many of them without breaking the bank now) it would have been so cool to see at least a few of them as them on screen.

And though I see Cait and Sam as Claire and Jamie there are some characters that I still see more in my minds eye when I read the books as the way I pictured them before like Frank and Black Jack I think Jason Issacs was practically perfect for the role. Tobias Menzies though he is a good actor don't get me wrong just doesn't do it as Frank and Black Jack totally for me for some reason. I pictured Frank and especially Black Jack as more handsome and a bit more buff than Tobias is. And while I readily admit that I LOVE Graham Mctavish as Dougal he's nothing like he's mentioned in the book or like I saw him in my head. Main thing he needs some hair on his head LOL. But love him in the series so far and I have gotten over that one for the most part.

Some of the characters for some reason I never could get a real person in my mind while reading like I did the ones listed, but I always did have a pretty clear image in my head of them that was very distinct like Young Ian, Geillis, and Marsali...I never saw an actor or actress that really I saw as them for some reason. Go figure lol but I can still see them very clearly just haven't seen anyone I thought embodied them in the flesh yet.

So I've shared my list what what is yours? Tell me in the comments!

Movie Review: Need for Speed

Starring: Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots

Directed by: Scott Waugh

BLURB: Fresh from prison, a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate joins a cross country race with revenge in mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins...

REVIEW:  Now those that know anything about me know this is NOT my kind of movie. I could care less about cars and even less about racing but I watched this one with the hubby because he wanted to see it. It is one that if you do like those things I’m sure you would enjoy. Now as most of you know this one is based off a very popular video game which is not the best premise but I was really surprised that this movie actually had a pretty decent plot to it. Aaron Paul plays Tobey Marshall a former race car driver who now owns a garage that use to belong to his late father. When he is approached by his rival Dino (who also took his girlfriend from him) to complete a project involving a rare Shelby Mustang in exchange for part of the car’s estimated 2 million dollar price tag.

Tobey agrees. The two of them after the project is done get in an argument along with Tobey’s brother Pete and agree to a race to see who is the better driver while racing Dino’s uncle's three Koenigsegg Ageras (which are illegal to drive in the U.S. because of their high speed capacity.)

However Dino agreed to the race to take revenge upon Tobey and during the race he purposely bumps Pete and causes him to crash and Pete is killed. Then he frames Tobey by telling the police that the cars had been stolen and that there were only the two cars stolen and driven not three. Tobey is arrested and sent to prison. Fast forward two years later when Tobey is released from prison…he sets out to make Dino pay for the death of his brother and for framing him.

Tobey enters into the legendary and grueling “De Leon” race in which the winner takes the cars of all the other racers involved in the race… and yes you guessed it Dino is a participant and wants desperately to win. Tobey of course just as equally wants Dino to lose. Who will win in this race not only for the winner take all of a plethora of dream racing cars but in the race for vengeance? Can Tobey expose Dino for the low life he is and make him pay for all he has cost him? And has Tobey found true love with Julia another car and racing enthusiast along the way? Is there a happily ever after in store or more time behind bars for Tobey?

I won’t say more than that because I don’t want to give anything away. It is one full of action and drama and as I said if you like cars and racing this one would probably be a good fit for you. I found myself interested in it by the end even hating both lol. So it isn’t a bad little movie especially one that was based off a video game. Guys I think will definitely enjoy this one way more than women but if you enjoy movies like Gone in 60 seconds or The Fast and Furious series I think this one would be right up your alley.

Nothing to bad on the sexuality meter at all just kissing mostly and a brief nude scene

Rated PG-13 for sequences of reckless street racing, disturbing crash scenes,
nudity and language

Book Review: Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon

Book 2 in the Outlander series

BLURB: From the author of Outlander... a magnificent epic that once again sweeps us back in time to the drama and passion of 18th-century Scotland...

For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland's majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones...about a love that transcends the boundaries of time...and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his ....

Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire's spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart ...in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising...and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves....

REVIEW: This is the second book of the Outlander series and it is one of my all time favorite books along with the first book I have read it and reread it so many times but I never tire of it. I think I just might enjoy it more with each reading... but I will say that this one just might throw most people for a loop when they first start reading it. Now why would I say that you ask? Well...it takes place over twenty years from the time that the first book left off and here is the part that throws most people... it sees Claire returning back in Scotland, but in the year 1968! WHAT??? What the heck happened why is she back in her regular timeline again and where the heck is Jamie??? Many will yell…

Well fear not and read on all will be explained and fall into place soon! Please just bear with it and trust me you won’t be sorry! This book is just as thrilling and heartpoundingly romantic, if not more so, in parts as the first book. It just is going to take a bit to let the story unfold. And don’t fear Jamie is there... and soon... just not at the very first, so as he would say dinna fash!

I won’t say a whole lot about the story line on this one because to do so would destroy some of the mystery and power of the story itself. However I will say I thoroughly enjoyed this book as much as the first and I'm sure you will too! (And just possibly a little bit more at times…yes it is that good!) Don't believe me see for yourself!

What little I will say about the story is that you will see plenty of Claire and Jamie as they do take off from where we left them in the first book – so no you aren't going to miss a thing don't start throwing things LOL. It’s just not starting off at that point at the very first of the book. You will see why shortly and all will be made right so keep reading! It’s more than worth it.

You will see Claire and Jamie maneuvering their way through the highest circles of French society and even in the very court of Louis the XV himself in their quest to stop Charles Stuart “Bonnie Prince Charlie” from his disastrous future. Claire knows that Charles’s disastrous quest to reclaim the English throne for himself will ultimately end with thousands of Scottish men dead on the bloody field of Culloden Moor, as well as men, women, and children starved, many killed, and many more driven from their homes in the equally bloody aftermath of the uprising.

Can they stop the tragedy from happening or are events in time truly unchangeable? Also what caused Claire to travel back to her own time without Jamie? You will get to meet Jamie and Claire's daughter Brianna and learn more about her, plus meet several more characters that you will undoubtedly fall in love with along the way. There is all this and much more in the breathtaking second book in the series Dragonfly in Amber! Believe me once you start  you won’t be able to put it down, and be sure to have Voyager book three ready to go as soon as you finish this one because you will for sure want to jump right in on it! Diana Gabaldon has a charmed pen and she wields it well here as always so what are you waiting for go and get Dragonfly in Amber today!!!

***P.S.  I also highly HIGHLY recommend getting the unabridged audio version of Dragonfly in Amber and indeed the entire Outlander Series it is read by the mega talented Davina Porter. Davina does an outstanding job and literally acts out the novel with her narration. She is amazing and it makes the books come to life even more as you hear the accents and all the different character's voices come to life. It is a must listen for any true fan, and a great way to enjoy Outlander while you are doing around the house or riding in the car!***

OOPS I did it again!

I dropped off the face of the earth again didn't I! I'm sorry for the huge gap in posting. I have had so much going on lately with my RL "real life" and then the Thanksgiving holiday etc. that I just haven't been able to get my posts done as I should.

I am going to endeavor to do better on this and get back to posting much more regularly again starting now God willing. Forgive me for being so derelect in my posting and I am about to post my review for Dragonfly in Amber right after this post with more reviews, interviews, wallpapers, contests and more coming very soon!
