True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Book Review: Bride of Shadow Canyon by Stacey Kayne

Book 1 in the Bride Series

BLURB: No matter what he believes about the saloon girl's past-he'll protect her future with his life!

Pulled off a train in Nevada by the henchmen sent to drag her back to Missouri and the Nightingale Saloon, Rachell prays for deliverance. A stranger appears from the shadows and frees her from her captors. Once in the care of her reluctant hero, Rachell wonders if she is any safer in the arms of a man whose eyes make her pulse quicken and gentle hands dare her to believe in the fable of love.

Jed knows he's in for trouble when the widowed boarding house keeper he's come to retrieve turns out to be a scantily-clad saloon girl. He vows to protect Rachell and get her safely to California, after he takes care of the trouble on her tail by luring them to Shadow Canyon. As they face the feral wilderness of Utah and the man determined to keep Rachell’s voice in his saloon, it is Rachell's innocent passion that becomes Jed's greatest threat, threatening to bring the light of love into his shadowed soul.

REVIEW: Bride of Shadow Canyon is the first book that I have personally read by Stacey Kayne but it will most assuredly not be the last. In fact I’m going to go out now and get every book that she has available she is absolutely terrific! This one had me from the very first page and held me till the very last one.

Rachell Carlson is in BIG trouble she has been kidnapped by a jealous employer who thinks she is much more than just his star act. And he’s willing to do anything to keep her which has now included killing one of her dearest friends to do so. But help is on the way when her sister and her husband send Jed Doulan to rescue Rachell and bring her safely to them in California. And Jed is just the man for the job, tough as nails and drop dead sexy ta boot Rachel is in awe when he sweeps in and rescues her. They make their escape in a hail of gunfire and ride off into the night… and right into more hot water! When a cantankerous and mischievous old judge intervenes and takes it upon himself to marry them on the spot! Finding themselves married (if they want to be let go that is) they decide to just accept the verdict, for the time being, with the understanding that they will immediately seek an annulment as soon as they reach California.

But as they make their way across the country both start to realize that their feelings for each other are quickly growing more complicated by the day. While Rachel is beautiful, innocent, and fiery Jed still can’t overcome the demons of his past that continually lead him to keep this beauty at arms length.

Add to their journey many obstacles including Indians and Mother Nature, and the fact that her obsessed employer is hot on their heels to get Rachel back with a small army of hired guns, and the stage is set for a romping good time! Will Jed face his past and take the risk that this beautiful strong young woman could be his future? Can Rachell make Jed see that no matter what the past has shown him that true love is a reality? Can Jed get Rachel safely to CA and her sister? And will their feelings grow to the point that the annulment might end up being what neither of them want after all? Trust me you do NOT want to miss the answers to these questions. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful book! Ms. Kayne pens a wonderful and deeply emotional story about two lost souls thrown together by chance and circumstance, just might be the thing that can save them both. A memorable tale and a great supporting cast that I do hope I might see again in future books. Funny and passionate and downright HOT in all the right ways…this is one that I couldn’t put down and will be adding it to my keeper shelf. I encourage you to give it a try and I bet you will too!
