True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Book Review: Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie
by Caroline Fyffe

Book 3 in the McCutcheon Family Series

Audio Book narrated by: Lara Asmundson

BLURB: MAIL-ORDER BRIDES OF THE WEST is the new series authors Debra Holland and Caroline Fyffe collaborated on. Each bride-to-be has her own reasons for traveling to an untamed, unfamiliar place—and wed a complete stranger. Perhaps it’s a difficult situation at home, the approaching stigma of “old maid,” or plain old wanderlust. In our first books, you’ll meet Evie and Trudy, our two brides, as well as the founder and matron of the agency: the staunch yet loveable Mrs. Seymour, who sends them west to meet their grooms in Y Knot and Sweetwater Springs. We hope you love the new series as much as we do! Two authors, two brides, two intertwined love stories!

REVIEW: This review is actually for the unabridged audio book version of Evie. I was lucky enough to win this lovely book from Ms. Fyffe on her Facebook page.

(If you are a fan of Ms. Fyffe’s McCutcheons series you for sure won’t want to miss this one as it is Chance’s story. )

Evie is a maid at the Mail Order Bride Service in St. Louis. Never feeling like she is quite good enough because not only is she poor but she was illegitimate. Evie is lonely and longs for love and a family to call her own. She has watched as the other girls at the agency have gone off to become young brides, and she decides that she is going to take the leap and find a Mail Order Husband for herself!

Her opportunity comes when she intercepts a letter to the agency from Chance Holcomb a rancher from Y Knot, Wyoming wanting to order a Mail Order bride for himself. Even though she knows she shouldn't she secretly starts writing to Chance, and the two hit it off immediately. Evie soon decides that she is ready to take a chance with well... Chance (I’m sorry forgive the pun there I just couldn't resist) so she leaves the money that Chance sent for her fare to Wyoming - to cover the agent’s finders fee and she sets out for her new life.

Evie travels the long journey to Y Knot and from the moment she sets eyes on the young rancher she is completely smitten and the feeling is mutual!

Chance has been unlucky in love but it seems that fate has finally smiled upon him! He feels he couldn’t have asked for a better bride than the beautiful young woman he was lucky enough to receive. He feels that Evie might be just the thing that can fill all the holes in both his lonely life and heart.

The two start to carve out a life together on the frontier working hard side by side on the cattle ranch to build a home. Can this really be the love that they have both been waiting for? Or will difficulties and jealousies rip their tender love apart before they can find out?

It’s a story of all the insecurities, misunderstandings, and tender feelings that comes along with new love. Full of romance, humor, and characters that you will fall in love with — you don’t want to miss this one.

I really enjoyed this great little book and highly recommend it to anyone that loves westerns and/or Mail Order Bride stories.

The Audio book is about 6 hours long and it’s around 232 pages in regular print format. So it’s not a huge book but it has big heart! Caroline Fyffe is a great author who knows how to tug at the heart strings and spin a tale that you won’t want to see end.

Since this was the audio version I wanted to also give a big thumbs up to the narrator on this one Lara Asmundson! She really did a fabulous job on all the characters and was even able to pull off a very good rendition of a cowboy's drawl. She was a true pleasure to listen too. I hope she does more audiobooks soon!

As with Ms. Fyffe’s other books she has a closed door policy on love scenes so her
books are always suitable for teens and up to read without having to worry about
any offending content.
