True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

1 John 4:9

What is Romance P.S.?

Romance P.S. is an entertainment blog about two of my very favorite things — movies and books.

The title actually stands for Romance with the page and screen so it's not just about romance alone but all kinds of movies and books. Though I will confess that my favorites always seem to be romances in some way ;)

Book Review: Texas Princess by Jodi Thomas

Book 2 in the Whispering Mountain Series

BLURB: Ever since he defended the Whispering Mountain Ranch as a boy, Tobin McMurray vowed to steer clear of outsiders. But something about Liberty Mayfield has made it impossible to keep his distance. Every minute spent with the vulnerable beauty has left him hungering for something he swore he'd never have-a wife and a family. Unfortunately, the woman who's ignited his desire is about to marry another man.

REVIEW: This is the second book in Ms. Thomas's Whispering Mountain Series. I think I would have been a little bit more prepared for this book had I started with the first one. But let me hasten to say that I didn't have to read the first one to understand and enjoy this one but I would have known a little more about the main character Tobin McMurray's family, and background etc. to start with. So if you want the whole story I do highly recommend starting with the first one in this series Texas Rain.

This is a wonderful book and it had me from the start, Tobin is the strong and very silent type as it happens he doesn't trust or like people much outside of his family circle due to a horrible incident from his childhood that left him both scared on the outside and the inside as well. The adventure starts when his family ranch is set to sell a well-bred horse to a Senators spoiled daughter. But Liberty Mayfield is not too easy to please, and it doesn't help that she is terrified of horses due to a haunting incident from her childhood…Tobin is asked to not only deliver the horse but to teach Libby to ride as well. And from the moment that they first innocently touch as spark is ignited that will threaten to consume them both.

Things are very complicated by the fact that Libby is engaged to be married to a handsome but possessive and abusive young Cavalry officer in only a few short days. Plus the fact that her father has been receiving death threats and this time he's afraid the threats are much more than idle. Senator Mayfield having known Tobin's brother and about his honorable and law abiding family secretly asks the help of Tobin to watch over his daughter and to even kidnap her if necessary in order to keep her safe. Libby knows that Tobin is as different from her as daylight is to dark but there is something about his strong and yet gentle soul that calls out to her own. Could it be that this princess has found the man of her dreams and he's a down to earth cowboy? Or will both of their lives be cut short from a madman's bullet?

Ms. Thomas is a wonderful storyteller and if you love westerns I HIGHLY recommend this. It's full of great romance and suspense you won't be sorry that you took this one for a ride!
