True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Movie Review: A Walk to Remember

Starring: Mandy Moore and Shane West

Directed by: Adam Shankman

BLURB: Love brings together what peer pressure and lifestyles seek to keep apart in this coming-of-age story based on the bestselling book. Teen idol Shane West and multiplatinum recording star Mandy Moore star as two high schoolers – she a straitlaced preacher's daughter and he an unmotivated delinquent. When events thrust him into her world, he begins an unexpected journey he'll never forget.

REVIEW: This is one that both breaks the heart even as it makes you sigh from the sheer romance of it all.

It's based on the best selling novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. Let's face it the man knows how to write a great romance!

This one starts off yes with a cookie cutter teen movie format “supposedly” but when you actually watch further you find that it is anything but.

Landon Carter is your typical popular highschool badboy that everyone seems to love or loves to hate if you’re a parent. When one of his teenage angsty pranks lands him in deep trouble he finds himself facing either expulsion, or he must participate in various after school activities that benefit the school and other worth while causes in the community.

He opts for the latter of course and along the way while he is thrown together with the very shy and bookish Jamie Sullivan and it is this encounter that ultimately changes his life in ways he never imagined possible.

Jamie is truly the polar opposite of Landon in almost every way. She is the daughter of a preacher, kind, considerate, shy, unpopular and overlooked by her popular peers. He thinks he has her figured out from the start but as the two spend more and more time together he beings to learn that he didn’t know a thing…and that what he had been needing was right there all along – he had just never noticed it.

During his “punishment” of having to tutor and be the lead in the school play he and Jamie begin to run lines for the play after he asks for her help. As they spend more and more time together both working on the play and then just spending time together looking at the stars through Jamie’s telescope Landon begins to fall in love with this beautiful young woman.
Jamie is also falling in love with Landon but she is hiding a secret that could mean heartbreak for both of them. (That's all I'm gonna say because I don't want to totally ruin it for those who haven't gotten to see this one yet.)

Are Jamie and Landon truly meant to be or are there to many obstacles working against them for it to last?

I LOVE this movie so much. However I warn you it is going to make you cry if you have a heart at all, so grab the tissues definitely for this one. But it breaks your heart in a very good way. By the end you are smiling through your tears.

This one is rated PG-13 mostly for language and some crude actions
by high schoolers in the film.
Very sweet romance with kissing only.
