True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

What is Romance P.S.?

Romance P.S. is an entertainment blog about two of my very favorite things — movies and books.

The title actually stands for Romance with the page and screen so it's not just about romance alone but all kinds of movies and books. Though I will confess that my favorites always seem to be romances in some way ;)

Book Review: Kiss of the Rose by Kate Pearce

Book 1 in the The Tudor Vampire Chronicles Series

BLURB:  Desperate to defeat King Richard III and gain the English crown, Henry Tudor made a pact with the Druids that bound him and his heirs to the Druid’s deadly struggle against the Vampires. Ever since, the Llewellyns, an ancient Vampire slaying family, have been in the permanent employ of the monarchy.

Now Henry VIII is on the throne, and his father’s bargain has almost been forgotten. Until corpses drained of blood start turning up in the most inappropriate of places, including the king’s bedchamber. But are these people the victims of the Vampires-or of the Druids?

To save the king from a nameless assassin, Rosalind Llewellyn, Vampire hunter extraordinaire, must form an uneasy alliance with a known Druid slayer. Sir Christopher Ellis hails from a family that has protected the Vampires for centuries, yet Rosalind has no choice but to rely on his help. And with her life threatened and her loyalty tested, Rosalind may even have to acknowledge the unthinkable. This sworn
enemy may be her soul mate.

REVIEW: If you love the Tudor period and you love vampires this is a book you will have to have! And isn't that cover just goregous! It is a very unique paranormal romance that combines the worlds of the Tudor court with vampires and the slayers that are bound to protect the throne at all costs!

The story starts out with Henry’s father whom is in a desperate battle with King Richard for the crown. Before the pivotal battle that will decide it all - Henry makes a pact with the ancient Druids to help him defeat Richard and assure the thrown is his, and also to protect his family’s hold on that thrown even after his death. But that pact also included his family's help with the struggle between the Druid’s and the Vampires that they are sworn to defeat. Henry agrees and his blood seals the pact…

Years later his son Henry the VIII sits on the thrown and there is a master vampire that wants to see him dead! Enter Rosalind Llewellyn of the Legendary Llewellyn family – they are a sect of Druids who have been sworn to protect the King and Queen from the vampires since the pact was first made between the Druids and the Tudors. Under the guise of one of the queens Ladies in waiting Rosalind has come to Court to find and dispatch the vampire before it can harm the King or the Queen in anyway. But she has never come across the likes of a vampire that is as old or as powerful as the one that she must face now…and if that weren’t a daunting enough task in and of itself one of the Ellis family – a group of Druid slayers that defend the vampire race in the war between the Druids and Vampires (and a long time enemy of the Llewellyn family as well) is also at court and claiming to be there to kill the vampire as well.

Christopher Ellis is out to kill the rogue vampire that has been causing major problems for the Vampire Council, which he serves and protects. He didn’t expect to run into such a fetching and fascinating lady as the Lady Rosalind it’s to bad that she is an accursed Llewellyn and that their families are sworn enemies! But from the moment they meet he feels drawn to her and not just because of her beauty but in all that makes her into the enigmatic woman that she is. Could the growing feelings that he feels for her be real or is he being compelled or bewitched by some Druid magic by the Llewellyn?

As the vampire’s victims and games get more serious and closer to the royal family Christopher and Rosalind are thrown together more and more and they are unexpected urged by their feuding families to join forces to defeat the ancient threat before it can achieve it’s deadly plot for the King’s life. Can they work together to defeat their common enemy, and can these long time enemies fight their growing feelings for each other as well? You don’t want to miss this exciting adventure and if you want to know the answers you will have to get your copy and find out because my lips are sealed as to their fates.

I really enjoyed this book. Love him or hate him – (it’s kind of hard not to let's face it he was a jerk of epic proportions) King Henry the VIII is always a very interesting character and his court is the ultimate lair for the vampires and the druids that are at war both with themselves and with the rogue vampires that have attacked them both. If you love a good paranormal and the Tudor’s you have to try this one you will be so glad you did! Ms. Pearce has constructed a fabulous world of courtly intrigue, romance and danger that you won’t want to miss.
