True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Movie Review: Insurgent

Starring: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts

Directed by: Robert Schwentke

BLURB: Beatrice Prior must confront her inner demons and continue her fight against a powerful alliance which threatens to tear her society apart with the help from others on her side.

REVIEW: This is the second movie in the Divergent Series. It is like its previous installment based on the book by the same name by author Veronica Roth. Now I have not read the books on these so I can not say if they follow them closely or not. However I did see and enjoyed the first movie in the series Divergent last year - so yes I was waiting to see this one!

I actually enjoyed this one more than the first movie the action and stakes are definitely ramped way up in the second movie for all involved. Tris and Four along with their other allies flee the city trying to avoid the clutches of the very evil Jeanine played by Kate Winslet (she is just heartless and cold as ice in this series whew) and Erudite who have pretty much taken over all the factions at this point under the misrepresentation that the Divergents have caused a sever breech in their community and now are posing an imminent threat to all others. Which is actually the opposite of what is going on... but you know how those blood thirsty control freak dictators are...they like to put their own spin in the media and lead all the little sheeple wherever they want them to go, and to believe whatever they say regardless of the facts.

Thus Tris and Four are running for their lives and the movie starts just three days after the last movie ended. Jeanine wants Tris to further one of her devious plots she has going and will stop at nothing to get her. Much action and mayhem ensues…meanwhile Four has his own issues from the past to deal with when he and Tris seek sanctuary among the Factionless and he comes face to face with their leader who is none other than his long thought dead mother Evelyn (played by Naomi Watts).

Things proceed to go from bad to worse and when Jeanine finally does get her claws into Tris what happens is both shocking and game changing for all involved. I can’t really say much more without giving away a lot of spoilers that would ruin it for many so I will just give my opinion here… I really liked this one its better than the first one though you do have to see the first one for this one to make any kind of sense at all. This series is definitely not one where the parts can stand alone. But if you like apocalyptic movies or movies in the vein of 1984 or the Hunger Games you will love this one I think. I do intend to buy these eventually. I probably will when they are offered as a complete set (since they aren't my absolute favorites but I do like them) or my budget allows whichever comes first. They are very entertaining movies that teach a very important lesson about control and freedom and what it means to loose one or both if you allow yourselves to be dictated to and your freedoms jeopardized in return for an illusion of community or safety.

Liked it just a bit more than the first one! More action and drama in this one it's finally getting to the meat of the story where the first had to set everything up.

PG-13 for violence, adult themes, and some mild language

There is some heavy kissing and it is implied that the main characters sleep together though nothing explicit is shown.

This one is still actually playing in some theaters but you can pre-order your copy for when it is released and will get it the day it is released...or buy the book it's based on below. All sales do benefit my blog and I do appreciate any help of off-setting some of the costs of running Romance P.S. thank you. :)
