True Love

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Book Review: Texas Twilight by Caroline Fyffe

Book 2 in the McCutcheon Family Series

BLURB: Fresh out of medical school, John McCutcheon finds his stagecoach under attack by brutal outlaws.  With the help of a feisty acquaintance, Lily Anthony, he manages to fend off the assault. Lily is attracted to the charming cowboy-doctor, with his chiseled good looks and teasing ways, then heartbroken to learn he’s engaged to be married.

Once settled in Rio Wells, Texas, John tries to ignore the fact that his cousin has taken a shine to Lily.  When a bounty hunter shows up looking for a priceless jewel that Lily has found stashed away in her aunt’s belongings, Lily fears her dreams of owning her own shop--and of finding true love--are about to go up in flames...or, could that just be the glow of a beautiful … Texas Twilight?

REVIEW:  This is book 2 in the McCutcheon Family series and for those of you that loved the first book you are going to eat this one up too! Caroline Fyffe has once again penned a heartwarming and yes clean romance that will leave you wanting more and ready for the next book in the series!

John McCutcheon sets out for his new position as the new town doctor in Rio Wells where he is taking over for their retiring resident doctor. He’s fresh out of medical school and raring to start his new life. While on the stagecoach he meets a lovely young woman named Lily (a German immigrant traveling with her elderly aunt also to Rio Wells where they plan on opening a dress shop) and is instantly drawn to her. However John is already engaged and so the fight within himself at the flair of attraction between he and Lily unnerves him. When the stagecoach is attacked by a band of outlaws John does all he can to protect and help Lily and the other passengers. Lily and her elderly Aunt are not only extremely grateful to the handsome young doctor for his valiant efforts but Lily thinks he is just as kind and brave as he is handsome.

Once they arrive at Rio Wells all is not as either of them would have hoped. For John the “retiring” doctor isn't exactly retired after all and insists on staying around and helping John with his patients. Lily and her Aunt find out that even though they paid in advance for the lease of their shop the conniving banker says that he never received their payment and has leased the property to someone else leaving Lily and her aunt Harriet in a severe bind.

This is just the beginning of the troubles for both John and Lily of which include… some very, very expensive jewels that mysteriously show up in the position of Lily’s aunt, a trouble-making runaway sister and some very headstrong and jealous kinsfolk for John among other things. It’s a very bumpy ride for the hero and heroine but as John and Lily find themselves increasingly drawn together and the attraction between them grows could it be that they are indeed right where they belong even amongst all the chaos going on around them?

I really enjoyed this book though not quite as much as the first one and it was just a tad slow in one or two parts (but not much) therefore only the four stars. It is still a great read and a must for anyone that loves a good western love story and/or is a fan of Ms. Fyffe's books.

As I said before it’s completely clean no fowl language or steamy sex scenes here so anyone could read this series without worry about anything offensive. :)

Also I enjoyed this one as the audiobook version and it was extremely well done. Loved the narrator who did a fabulous job with all of the various characters and even the German accents for Lily and her Aunt were well done and believable I thought, which isn't easy to pull off. So if you enjoy a good audiobook this is one that is well worth it.

I look forward to reading more about the McCutcheon’s in future books, and do go and pick up the first two books they are well worth it!

Confessions of a pathetic blogger

The best laid plans...or while man makes plans, God laughs. Both seem to fit for my meaning to do so much better on my little blog here and post everyday or at the least every other day, but alas that didn't happen as I'm sure you can see. Over three months of nothing on my part and I find myself once again saying sorry to my few loyal followers. I truly mean it... I did have intentions of doing much better but real life interfered yet again to show me who was really in charge. I won't bore you with all the boring and sometimes gory details of why I was absent so long accept to say that God willing I will be doing better from now on I pray!!!

Honestly until the last few weeks I wasn't even able to find time or the energy to even read at all (accept the Bible which I try my best to read everyday) which for me is a biggie. It's truly been one thing after another.

However in the last couple of weeks I've made my way quickly through the first four books of Monica McCarty's stellar Highland Guard Series, and just started the fifth one this morning. I will be posting reviews for them in the next few days here if the Good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise, as my dear mother use to say! They are truly wonderful books and I absolutely devoured them and couldn't wait to start on the next one. What can I say the lady knows how to write a truly exciting, sexy, and heartwarming romance which I for one can not resist!

I did manage to get in a few new movies in there too... finally got to see Mockingjay part I, Labor Day, Anonymous and a few others. And yes I confess it I rewatched the entire first half of Outlander againnnnn lol...don't judge me! It's been 7 months without a new episode and I had to see Jamie again all right!!! By the way I just want to reiterate that Starz left poor Claire in the clutches of Black Jack Randall for 7 months! EVIL I tell you, and we thought BJ was sadistic maybe he took lessons from Starz.

All right I have to run but wanted to say there IS more coming soon and no I didn't die though it looked that way...sorry again.
